Department of English: Study Trip to Khonoma, KROS College

Nagaland university in its under graduate course offers a paper titled “Writings in English from Nagaland” for the 3rd semester English honours students. The paper echoes the troubled past of the Nagas’ demand for sovereignty and the sacrifices each one had to make to. The history of the Nagas come to live in this particular paper. The story maybe fictional yet the background of these stories were factual incidents which is a core aspect of the paper.
Sensing the seriousness and importance of this paper which is greatly imparting the students with knowledge about their origin and culture in general and their troubled history in particular, on 6th August, 2022, the English honours of 3rd semester, along with 4 teaching faculties from the Department of English undertook a study trip to Khonoma, the village being a producer of one of the first greatest Naga underground leader and also the village holds many stories of significant battles fought between the Nagas and Britishers, as well as Indian army.
The sole aim of this study trip is to impart the students with best knowledge about the Naga history through first-hand information by experts, and thereby enable them to have a thorough understanding of the paper.
